Tinashe
Apr 7, 2014
It's 2014, which means it's time for the Tinashe takeover to begin.
After dropping her early '90's-leaning mixtape Black Water back in November, the rising alt-R&B starlet has finally dropped "2 On," the debut single off of her upcoming RCA debut.
The DJ Mustard-crafted, ScHoolboy Q-assisted cut sees Tinashe drifting away from her more moody, hazy offerings of the past few years and stepping foot into the club with a more radio-friendly, chilly electro-R&B thumper. "Get faded, turn up with the bad boys/Live fast, die young, that's my choice," she purrs above finger snaps, trap hi-hats, and nasty beats.
The end result is something like a female version of Tyga's "Rack City" and 2 Chainz' "I'm Different" (both also produced by Mustard) mixed with the icy flow of Cassie's "Me & U," blending #TurnUp club culture (TURN DOWN FOR WHAT?!) with hypnotic minimal beats, it's all sorts of sexy.
