Great bands don't always make themselves fully known with their debut release, but they always plant a certain seed of originality that immediately begins to bloom. With Coldplay's debut effort, "Parachutes," such a seed was sown with the songs "Yellow" and "Trouble." Sure these two songs ended up becoming big hits and they established high expectations for the band to come up with something spectacular with their next project, but they also left us still wondering a bit as to what they were all about.
A Rush of Blood to the Head answered many of those questions, as we watched Coldplay become a very popular band They kicked it up another few notches with the releases of X&Y, Viva La Vida and then Mylo Xyloto, which cemented Coldplay as one of the biggest bands in the world!
They now return with their sixth studio album Ghost Stories. The band produced the project along with Paul Epsworth, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson, along with Tim Bergling (AVICII) helping out with "A Sky Full Of Stars."
In many way this is the most inventive and intimate album the band has ever done. In a recent interview in The Guardian, Chris Martin said he, "had spent part of my life not being completely vulnerable, and it caused me some problems. If you don't let love really in then you can't really give it back. The new album addresses the fact that you've got to open yourself up to love and if you really do, of course it will be painful at some times, but then it will be great at some point".
Every song on Ghost Stories is amazing, including "Magic," "A Sky Full of Stars," "True Love," "Another's Arms" and "Oceans."
Coldplay has sold more than 60 million records worldwide and won numerous awards, including seven Grammy Awards, six Brit Awards and four MTV Video Music Awards.
Coldplay recently had a one-hour special air on NBC. They performed in New York in early May, which was aired live on SiriusXM. The band recently performed in Los Angeles and they have some other shows slated around the world including Glasgow, Paris, Tokyo, Sydney and London.
