Coast Modern

"Hollow Life" is the debut single released by the Los Angeles-based duo, Coast Modern via +1 Records/300 Entertainment . They combine upbeat synth-pop with meandering lyrics that capture life.
When asked about the creation of the song, Coast Modern's Luke Atlas explains "'Hollow Life' was one of the first songs we made where we had no agenda and were just playing around in the moment trying to make something we genuinely liked. After we stopped shooting at an invisible moving target, that's when the sound came.... There are days in L.A. where, as amazing as it is, it reaches a boiling point and you get the urge to throw some clothes in a bag and drive to the desert. This song tries to capture a little of that feeling."
Coast Modern is comprised of Seattle native Luke Atlas and LA-local Coleman Trapp. They met while working as Los Angeles-based songwriters and after more than two years of peddling some great, some terrible, and some very weird creations at the gates of the mainstream, they received little more than fleeting glances. So, with just a backpack and a tape recorder, Coleman escaped his over-saturated hometown for the mountainous serenity of Denver, CO. What was meant to be a quick, head-clearing vacation soon turned into months as Coleman blended into the community, taking a job at a family restaurant, and enjoying the simple pleasures of a "normal" life. He used the time to write music and when he returned home, he shared these songs with Atlas and their sound was born.
