CPR Promotional Check-Up - Feb 23, 2012
February 23, 2012
You are barreling toward Prom Season at Warp Speed (Mark Adams likes it when I use Star Trek lingo) and if you are a CHR or Rhythm, you really need to acknowledge it somehow. Throw the kids a frickin' bone. I have many things you can do, and also advice on how to do "Win A Date With (DJ)" so that it doesn't come off as pompous and egotistical.
To paraphrase R Kelly, "After the party, it's the after party." In theory, on Sunday mornings at 3 am in May, there should be thousands of 17 and 18 year-olds listening to the station in houses and limos and hotels. The iProm bit is simple; you solicit playlists, scan through them (like stations do with myPod) and find ones that are basically what you would be playing anyway. A couple of cool songs that might not be necessarily in the format can only drive in the point that this is legit and also help your hipness factor.
So every hour from midnight to 6 am on Sundays in May, you are listener driven and focused on the kids who are partying after their proms. And you obviously let them know a week in advance so they can tell all their friends to be listening.
It's similar to what Live 105 is did with "Free For All" at night in San Francisco...and the numbers doubled.
Because A Healthy Hoo Hah Is A Happy Hoo Hah
I was doing some trip research for a Mennonite youth mission to Guatemala and stumbled across LVRI which is a cosmetic surgery for rehabbing the Bikini Zone. This is a burgeoning business. I kid you not. Clinics in many many markets. This is from one in Phoenix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G57IM9ciwI0&feature=related Totally SFW. As a bit for June weddings, it WOULD be the gift that keeps on giving.
Your Studio Lines
Falling under the "Why not?" category, I think it would be hilarious if the company "outsourced" the studio line to India. For like a week. Get some exchange students answering the phone. Why? Why not? Everything is an op for stupidity. My tech with Earthlink the other day was "Peter Anderson". He wanted to have me log in and chat through the challenge I was experiencing...the chat bar said that I was in communication with Krishtar.
"We Apologize": The Prison Years
A co-host to remain nameless is going on a medical leave for the month of March. Her last day on the air she's going to be arrested. When she comes back, she'll be contrite, thank the audience for their support and say that she's thankfully putting this part of her life behind her.
