Nude Recreation Week
It's nice to see stations not miss this annual recognition of the joy of saving money on laundry and dry cleaning. In SFO, Jo Jo Wright went nekkid with a bunch of listeners on the beach in Pacifica. And Power 96 in Miami brought it back with a video http://power96.com/video/jingle-it-baby
More Promotional Universals
Opened the Minneapolis paper on Saturday and on the front page of the variety/entertainment section....a big color photo of a diaper crawl.
Heading into Begging Season (anytime between October and New Years), another Universal is that anytime you hang or lift or otherwise elevate a DJ, you will get press. Stick a morning guy on a billboard for seven days? You will get TV. If you care about that. Chet Buchanan at KLUC and Kekeluv at Kiss in Boise could do their campaigns each year sitting on the ground, or in a mall or worse, in a studio....and no one would care. The "height/risk" element is a HUGE hook for them.
And further proof that all great contests can be traced back to Tom Wasmoen's birthday party in 4th grade, 'KLH in Milwaukee had a suite for a Brewers game which is valued around $3000, and a big festival downtown to give it away at. So...they did Musical Chairs. And yes, got on TV. And just as good, the 96 brightly logoed shirts insured they got some visibility for the rest of the day at the event. Much like the thousand logoed shirts that Mix in Orlando just did for a Human Flag at a 4th of July celebration. They flooded the site with bodies walking around in logos for 8 hours.
Wild in Tampa did a trip to the Grammys with this methodology. KDWB in Minny did a trip to the Superbowl with Chairs. Both are MILLION dollar prizes and got TV. http://www.cpr-promotions.com/kdwb_largest_game.htm Hot in Ft. Wayne did it in January for a TV and food for the Superbowl. And got TV.
That is as close to a Universal as you're going to get.
