The long 4th of July is upcoming. Look for two things. Sales leaving early for "vacation" each day, and a ton of unsold fringe inventory. Fix the first problem and the second may take care of itself. Speaking of fringe, have a great weekend everyone!

Is the cluster across the street for sale? Now may be a good time to recruit the top sales people. Everyone is nervous during a sale, but uncertainty of formats and managers is something to take advantage of. Sales people are hurt (in the wallet) first.

With the long holiday weekend coming up, it may be time to appreciate your traffic department. Great traffic managers are the difference between making or missing budget. Next week they will be cranking out a large number of daily logs. A simple "thanks" will travel more miles than you will to see fireworks!

Yesterday's Wall St. Journal presented an article on "wireless" internet radio. If there was ever a time to invest in your web address, this is it. Imagine driving to work and seeing a billboard reading, "Listen at in the car or at work to - www.localcountryradioonline.com." AND IT'S NOT YOUR RADIO STATION! Yikes!

Over the next 10 days you have time to prepare for the hottest radio contest prize your listeners will want to win this year. Apple's I-Phone will be released on the 29th. In addition to sponsorship opportunities available to your sales department, giving only one away will position your station as "the" one with the hottest prizes. (the more, the better.) Assume the press will cover the phone release. Can you make the local press consider your station the leader? Give one away and find out. My guess...yes!
