I'm a Poll Man:
Daily Presidential Poll numbers:
--Rasmussen: MITT ROMNEY, 48-to-44
--Gallup: PRESIDENT OBAMA, 47-to-46
--Real Clear Politics average: Both tied at 46.4
--Intrade Odds: Obama, 57.8-to-42 (Pacelli)
Takeaway: No convention bounce for Romney. (Maiman)
The Democratic answer to CLINT EASTWOOD will be younger and much shaplier --former "Desperate Housewives" actress EVA LONGORIA. Deadline.com reports she's one of nine women scheduled to address the Democratic National Convention this week.
Another Hollywood star will also be speaking --"Harold and Kumar" star KAL PENN, who left the TV show, "House," to work at BARACK OBAMA's staff at the White House. Kal is scheduled to host a portion of the DNC's official gavel-to-gavel livestream and Deadline.com says he's rumored to be speaking tonight as well. He'll also be hosting an internet-only special Thursday night called "Live From Charlotte," featuring interviews with celebrities including MARC ANTHONY, ELIZABETH BANKS, AISHA TYLER, OLIVIA WILDE, FRAN DRESCHER, ZACH BRAFF and ALEXIS BLEIDEL.
Trash talk and satellite dish:
Talk-show host ELLEN DeGENERES gets her star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame today at 11:30 am on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the W Hollywood Hotel on the famous corner of Hollywood and Vine. JIMMY KIMMEL will be on hand to speak at her induction and unveil her star --the 2,477th on the walk.
Sucks to be you:
NADYA SULEMAN may not be destined for the work force and has lost yet another job. RadarOnline.com reports the "Octo-Mom" has been fired by the big wigs behind "Celebrity Boxing" after she allegedly broke an opponent's hand in a pillow fight and was a no-show for another bout. The broke mother of 14 probably needed this gig --CEO DAMON FELDMAN claims she's made over six-figures with their company. (Lee)
KIM KARDASHIAN spends an awful lot of money on upkeep. According to Star magazine, the reality show star and girlfriend of KANYE WEST spends about $2,175 bucks a week on her body, hair and face including:
--several mani-pedis a week at $150 dollars each
--VelaShape laser treatment for cellulite costing around three grand a month!
--eyelash extensions, mudwraps, bodyscrubs and two glycolic peels a week! (Myers)
At the local Cop Shop:
Wearing a unique tattoo? A story in the Tampa Bay Times says it might be better to avoid a career in crime because police are tracking down suspects more often based on their tats.
Case in point: Police in St Petersburg, FL, were hunting for a bank robber with the forearm tattoo "Most Wanted." They questioned a car wash employee who said the man ran by the day of the robbery. The tattooed suspect was found, arrested, and got 30 years. The tattoo "was certainly a nice piece of the puzzle," says a prosecutor.
Other St. Petersburg residents arrested because of their ink include an alleged killer with "727" (his area code) tattooed on his neck, and a suspected multiple rapist wearing "Ride or Die."
On the "dumb criminal" side, a California killer was caught --years later-- because he had the murder scene tattooed to his chest.
Not only do police rely on witness testimony, but tattoos are now entered into criminal databases when people are arrested. Said one cop: "The more unique it is, with a unique location, the better." (Maiman)
The MICHAEL JACKSON saga will not rest. The Los Angeles Times says there are emails from the promoters of what would have been his comeback tour that say Michael was in pretty bad shape in the days leading up to those shows. AEG's head honcho RANDY PHILLIPS described Michael as (quote), "drunk and despondent" and (quote), "an emotionally paralyzed mess." In other emails, Lloyd's of London, which insured the tour, asked for five years of Michael's medical records. His personal doctor, CONRAD MURRAY, refused... just an hour before Michael died. Those emails will be a big part of two lawsuits surrounding Michael's death. (Marino)
