Overnight Briefing & General Reality Check - Aug 3, 2016

Filling a need:
We all know by now that MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY likes to drive around a Lincoln --he was named the company's spokesperson from 2014 through this year. But what's next? Bourbon.
The Hollywood Reportersays he's just signed a multiyear contract to write, direct and appear in ads for Wild Turkey. Or, as Matthew might slur: "All right, all right, all right! (Hic)!"
In fact, he's already made a short, six-minute film for the company on YouTube which already has over 81-thousand views. Next: TV commercials.
Trash talk and satellite dish:
Add LEONARDO DiCAPRIO to the list of HILLARY CLINTON fans. He's hosting a Democratic fundraiser for Hilz Aug 23, but you probably won't want to go when you hear you'll have to pony up $33,400-per-person just to get in the door.
Of course, the money gets split up, with $2,700 going to the Clinton campaign, and the rest to the Democratic National Committee and state and local parties.
At the local Cop Shop:
Boston Police have added an expensive new police cruiser to their fleet.
That vehicle is an $89-thousand-dollar ice cream truck, to be exact. The truck was purchased as part of "Operation Hoodsie Cup," a community program to hand out free ice cream to the local community. A local ice cream producer called HP Hood is donating all the sweet treats. (Still)
You know you were wondering --those of you who watched "The Bachelorette" finale Monday night saw the rock that JORDAN ROGERS pulled out to propose to JOJO FLETCHER. How much did it cost?
E! News reports there's a 3.75-carat diamond in the center of the NEIL LANE ring-- "an oval-shaped diamond with a pavé halo surrounding it." In other words, a YUUUGE diamond in the center and a bunch of smaller ones around it, all of it set in platinum. And it's worth roughly (wait for it...) $100-thousand dollars.
