A woman in Florida who heard strange sounds coming from her engine was surprised to find the cause.
The unidentified Tarpon Springs woman heard high-pitched cries coming from her SUV, so she pulled over. When she couldn't locate the source, she drove to a police station and asked for help. Officers from the Tarpon Springs Police Departmentfound the problem: a kitten hiding inside the fender well. The woman explained that she had spotted the cat earlier in the day near her car, but had no idea it had climbed inside the vehicle.
The kitty --now nicknamed FENDER-- was uninjured and the woman has since adopted it. (Still)Health and Medical Briefs:
A global study of drinking habits shows women have all but caught up with men at knocking back the booze. The team at the University of New South Wales, in Australia, analyzed data from all over the world, though it skewed heavily towards North America and Europe. They suggest womens' increased alcohol intake has been influenced by its availability, changing societal roles --and heavy marketing to young women. (Kaye)
Pilot news:
HBO has picked up a new BBC One series based on some of J-K ROWLING's crime novels, called "Cormoran Strike." The book series were written by Rowling under the name ROBERT GALBRAITH.
The TV series will star British actor TOM BURKE playing a war vet named Cormoran Strike whose career after his military service is as a private detective in London. The three books, called "The Cuckoo's Calling," "The Silkworm" and "Career Of Evil," will each have their own event series, and if they're successful, you can bet there'll be another one when the fourth book in the series comes out next year. -
