I'm sitting in yet another hair salon, waiting on a daughter who is getting ready for her high school senior pictures. I'm watching stylists blow out, cut, and dye hair. All these gals are cute, stylish and chatty. No guys at this salon, yet. I'm thrilled that the wifi works instantly, and as I sit into a cushy leather chair a cup of coffee (in a mug, not plastic) appears. I pull out my iPad, and breathe in happiness. My surroundings are so perfect for the situation I'm in. I'm comfortable, caffeinated, and my kid is being cared for. I'm thinking about how I can give this feeling on the air.
Every single person in this waiting room is looking at their hand held device, except for one middle school aged girl. She's reading a book, probably required summer reading for school. She's patiently waiting for her Mom, instead of the other way around. Refreshing.
Right now she could be:
Paper training a puppy
Making microwave popcorn
Cleaning out her kid's aquarium
Picking up the dry cleaning
She buzz words
