When it's 28 degrees in your neighborhood and you realize that's considered warm compared to the rest of the United States you start to plan a summer trip, regardless of COVID.
My sister, anxious to leave behind her frozen pipes in Minnesota, already has a flight to El Paso planned for next month. She's hoping the water supply will be available. Her friends planned a girl's trip months ago, figuring Texas would be a safe place to get warm. Go figure, nothing is the way it was; "It's one of those years" is a phrase that no longer applies.
Fast Company advises against saying 'there's nothing I can do about it' because we have, and continue to learn how to reboot our lives. Plant the focus on what you can do.
“You don't understand” is also not a recommended response. Everyone has different experiences and insights, so this phrase holds no real purpose. I'll keep this in mind when I'm pulling my five-year-old out from the couch fort she made and proceeded to get stuck in. She was so detailed with her construction, layering blankets, even a sleeping bag. Now all that can be heard is a little voice asking for 'a little help here.' If it was only this easy.
