Life Swap, The A List, and a bunch of other ideas for your next planning session

Have an opinion? Add your comment below. "When you admit a negative, the prospect will give you a positive. It goes against human nature to admit a problem. For years, the power of positive thinking has been drummed into us. "Think positive" has been the subject of endless books and articles. So it may come as a surprise to you that one of the most effective ways to get into a prospect's mind is to first admit a negative and then twist it into a positive."

Life Swap
A lot of radio people are interested in this Morning Show experiment. Have a listen. Next time we will run through exactly how to plan this campaign…what to do and what not to do. We will also talk to the Program Director who executed it. He’ll give us his view on why it worked.
Kyle and Jackie’s A List
We will also tell you about how you can get to know Australia’s Number 1 Morning Show …..Kyle and Jackie O and their A List. The A List with Kyle and Jackie O is an entertainment show co-hosted by some of the biggest celebrities in the world……but it’s not like anything you’ve ever heard before!
Now for this week….a bunch of ideas that you could get up and running fast.
The Ultimate Giveaway…….The seven deadly sins
Vanity (win a complete makeover or plastic surgery). Lust (win a weekend in Paris, or weekend in penthouse suite of local hotel). Greed (win money!) Envy(live like a star in Hollywood). Gluttony (12 month restaurant account), Pride (advertising schedule on your radio station to talk about winners business being the best of its type). Sloth (new lounge suite, TV and mini bar).
Winner could pick from the seven-sins, or you could do one a day.
Driven out of the morning show....could be driven out of phone topic and listener back stories.....
The Law of Candor
We are all familiar with Jack Trout’s Law of Candor………………….
"When you admit a negative, the prospect will give you a positive. It goes against human nature to admit a problem. For years, the power of positive thinking has been drummed into us. "Think positive" has been the subject of endless books and articles. So it may come as a surprise to you that one of the most effective ways to get into a prospect’s mind is to first admit a negative and then twist it into a positive."
Radio stations are terrible liars. They say they take notice of listener wants…then go about doing exactly what they want.
Content Directors can’t lie straight in bed………
It’s for this very reason that "The Honesty Line" campaign gets immediate traction.
A sample script from the "Honesty Line" campaign. The premise is that most stations say they take notice of listeners…..we prove we do!!!!!
Plenty of radio stations ask for your opinions on how to improve their station - then they do absolutely nothing about it.
4 weeks ago xxxx launched a (market) first - the Honesty Line …… you've responded …… and we've listened.
Not convinced? Well try this.
[Grabs/Listener Inserts]
Thanks to your feedback on the xxxxxx Honesty Line…………………….. this Sunday / tomorrow / today we (announce listener driven tactic)
[Grabs]
Thanks (market) for your honesty

The Unmarked Car
A fun, different morning show tactic.
Every day an unmarked cash car follows a listener with xxxx dollars and prizes on board.
The "unmarked car" crosses live to the Morning Show and describes the car they're following - it's a white Merc with "PLJ" in the registration number, etc.
That person then has ten seconds to do something like wind down the window and yell , wave , turn up the radio loud, …. etc. In other words make it know that they are listening.
The unmarked cash car then asks them to pull over when and where its safe and they do a cross with the winner in the vehicle.
The money/prizes jackpot if not won.
The unmarked car is a different car every day.(cue the sponsor)
Get creative…………use an ice cream truck , a taxi, bus whatever.
The unmarked car gets a little wierder every day.
Could make some serious noise and could be run hourly across the day.
One Good Turn Gets Rewarded
This is an idea to keep and think about as a semi-regular street campaign driven out of the Morning Show.
I like it as it will generate talk and it fits I believe into most stations brand philosophies.
"One Good Turn" could be a campaign which takes place on the streets of your TSA. Hidden cameras/commentary reveal the attitude of ordinary people in extreme and tempting real life dilemmas. The most courageous and honest people are awarded.............
How many people would return the money to a gas station manager who gave them too much change?
Who would intervene when an "out of towner" leaves a credit card in an ATM and you spot it?
Who would alert someone who drops their wallet or purse on the street?
The member of the public who is shown to be the most heroic, good natured person is rewarded……. We visit their home, work place and see the reactions of their family and workmates when they are awarded the prize.
One Good Turn examines human behaviour…… A great TV concept but why not on radio??? And think of the Social Media applications!!!
Final Idea.(thanks to Dave and KC at Red FM in Cork, Ireland)….Good Day /Bad Day……a daily news /celebrity feature. A nice twist on your normal Entertainment News.
