“The hardest person in the world to deal with is yourself.” Jim Fortin
Today is my birthday...my date of origin, my pod popping performance, the time I showed up in the jungles of space and time called earth as me, Lynn McDonnell in this particular lifetime. Birthdays are a celebration of another glorious cruise around the sun, but I personally like to use today as the beginning of another year to know myself better. So mind bending questions along with some red velvet cake is my jam! Some people wince at the thought of getting another year “OLDER,” but frankly the alternative is worse – or is it?
Death has such a bad rap here on earth, but if you believe that we are all energy, then dying is just leaving the present bag of skin that’s housing your soul on this terrestrial trip. According to Albert Einstein, a seemingly smart dude, energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another. So we go back to wherever the hell we were before we got here this time, and pray we learned some lessons along the way so as to not repeat them again when we reincarnate as someone new. This means death is an illusion. Now that I’ve gotten way too woo woo for most people’s comfort zone, let’s go back to some thoughts to ponder so the next trip is a more pleasant adventure. Or at least next year, or even tomorrow –lol.
Let’s start with awareness. Most people bumble through life as a comatose version of the day before repeating the same thoughts, habits and patterns. If you are looking for growth and change, you first have to be aware of what’s not working in order to shift it. Once you are aware of something, you cannot become unaware, therefore doing it again is then a choice. Here’s the good news, you can make a new choice every minute of every day. How stellar is that?
Next is beliefs. What do I believe about myself and my life? Is what I believe serving who I want to be in the world? If I believe I am a loser, I will live the life of a loser. If I believe I am an idiot, I will behave like one and receive idiocy back. Be mindful of what you believe is truth. You become what you believe, so wouldn’t it behoove you to believe you’re the cat’s meow and deserve awesomeness on all fronts??
Many people are unhappy all the while looking for their purpose, when in fact your purpose is to be happy. Speaking of searching for your purpose, if you have not seen Disney Pixar’s movie “SOUL,” I highly recommend it. The inspirational movie deals with life and death, the afterlife and finding one’s purpose. It has an uplifting message for the whole family, but it might have more to say than you realize the first time you watch it.
Why do I matter? Just by being alive, we matter and are valued. We are already enough. You are the only version of yourself out of the 7.8 billion other people currently housing the planet. We all deserve to enjoy what life has to offer. All you have to do is open your eyes and look around. Now that you have this information, what you choose to do with it is up to you.
Life is NOW, all you have is NOW – A large portion of people live for something that’s NOT NOW… I’ll be happy when…I make more money or win lotto, lose 20 pounds, meet my fantasy man, or live in my Barbie Dream-house. Instead ask “What can I learn right now in this moment?” It may be the last one you have. I hope this has served you as it has for me, after all it’s always an Inside-Project.
