BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I was the intern who never really went away. I started as a weekend board operator. When I heard that there was a need for an intern on our Top 40 heritage station, I was all over that. While there, I earned myself a full time job creating graphics for the cluster, managing websites and doing traffic for a few stations. I left once and came back after a year to co-host the morning show with my friend Reka Robinson, one half of the old show I interned for. We've been entertaining our community for about two years now and loving every minute of it!
1) How would you describe your first radio gig?
Since I'm currently in it, I'd say it's been a learning experience. I feel like a sponge soaking it all in. I have great co-workers who have taken me under their radio wings and have taught me to work hard and never settle for "okay."
2) How would you describe the radio landscape in your market?
Being in a small market, it naturally leans more on the side of not very aggressive. I've learned that you should never compare yourself to what others in this market are doing. Always look for the best in the industry and do what they do.
3) What are you doing social media-wise?
Being a typical millennial, I LOVE social media. There's nothing else that can connect us to our listeners the way social media does. It shows them that we're more alike than different. I post regularly on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter... (the new Snapchat update sucks). I share lots of show content, BTS stuff and a ton of personal life stories that don't get told in their entirety on air.
4) Who handles your imaging, and what voices are you using?
My PD James Tyler does all of the imaging but I've recently been taking care of imaging for our morning show. We update it with a few new pieces weekly to keep the show sounding topical and fresh. We use Scott Matthews (amazing pipes).
5) "Local local" has always been radio's mantra. How do you keep your station visible and involved in the community?
We have a number of annual events. My co-host Reka does a clothing drive for a local elementary school every spring. We believe in being a part of the community. We make sure we're at the biggest events even just as spectators. From time to time we visit school assemblies and read to kids. Every other Tuesday we volunteer at our local Boys and Girls Club too.
6) What is the most challenging part of the job?
Finding the normal stories in everyday life to bring on air. Show topics happen daily, but it's finding the story lines that will connect with our audience. That's the difficult part.
7) Who is your favorite air personality not on your staff and why do you like them?
FITZ. I freaking love that dude. He's funny and charming and has a way of delivering the stuff everyone else talks about, in a funny and different way. Plus, he's in the PNW. This makes him even better!
8) Who would be a "dream guest" to have on your show?
Russell Wilson. I feel like, he would brighten our day with his positivity and work ethic. #GoHawks!
9) What was your favorite station to listen to when you were a kid?
Power 99.1... The station I'm on now. Not everyone gets to say that. I feel incredibly blessed.
10) Who were your mentors? Who would you say has influenced your career the most?
Reka Robinson and James Tyler. My co-host and PD. The time they have taken to help shape me as a personality would make them worthy of sainthood. We all wear many hats, but they've still made the time to air-check me and give me tips and tricks.
Bonus Questions

The Office theme song. Is there really a better show in the history of TV?
