NAME:B-RockPOSITION:APD/MD (soon to be PD)STATION:WLAN (soon to be WBVD)MARKET:Lancaster, PA (soon to be Melbourne, FL)COMPANY:Clear ChannelBORN:06/12/1979
Please outline your radio career so far:
1998-1998: WERQ/Baltimore, Intern.
1998-11/11/05 WLAN/Lancaster, from board op to janitor, all the way to APD/Nights.
Effective 11/14/05: PD WBVD1) What led you to a career in radio?
It was a wood shop teacher in Junior High and a 1970's radio station. Thanks Mr. Weaver...the horse head bookends will always hold my FCC rule book.
2) What makes your airwork special?
Some people do radio because they think it's cool, because they want to be a celebrity. I do it because it's in my heart and blood and I think that comes through every time I open the mic.
3) What Movie or TV program best describes your life?
You remember that one nasty pop singer...she was so sweet and innocent and she turned into such trash...oh yeah Britney...her show chaotic...that would be my life, but it would last a lot longer than a season.
4) Most stations have vans. WLAN is in Amish Country. Ever think about having a station horse and buggie?
We've thought about it, but the horses cost too much and they wouldn't let us use interns to pull it...go figure!
5) What characteristics make your new market, Melbourne, unique?
I was just down there for two days, and I only saw two ugly women the whole time!
6) Who is your favorite air personality not on your staff and why do you like them?
Pat Kain, Production Director at WQXA. He taught me that hard work and determination will always pay off...even if it feels like forever.
7) Tell us something about your former PD JT Bosch that would surprise us...
When you are new here, instead of making you get coffee or cigs (unless you are under age) he makes you give him sponge baths in the station sink. Really weird.
8) What was your favorite station to listen to when you were a kid?
I grew up on WLAN, The NutHut, Toby Knapp, JoJo, Pat Kain... this station is legendary.
9) What music do you listen to when you're not working?
R&B, Hip Hop, Reggaeton...yes, I am the blackest white boy since Vanilla Ice.
10) Please describe the best promotion you've ever been part of.
The "Day of 1,000 Prizes," by far! 1,000 local prizes/winners in one day. Amazing!
Bonus Questions
What goals have you set for yourself at your new gig?
To make The Beat more listener-active, and keep it climbing. It's a great station, and I'm proud to be behind the wheel to take it to the next level.
What's the best liner you've ever heard?
The racks, the stacks, the groovy wax!
