BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I started as an intern in the promotions department with Clear Channel in 2004. I became the Programming Assistant for Finest City Broadcasting for XHTZ, XTRA, AND XHRM under Rick Thomas and Kevin Stapleford in 2005. I was promoted to Music Coordinator for XHTZ and remained as Programming Asst. to XTRA and XHRM 2006. In January 2010, I promoted to Music Director for XHTZ under Fred Rico and remained assisting for XTRA under Capone for XTRA as well as Fred's other station, XHRM. Basically, I've been with these three stations since 2004 and couldn't be happier!
1. What got you into radio?
I kind of just stumbled upon it. I heeard a spot on the radio seeking interns and immediately called the station. I caught the bug as soon as I got into the building for my interview. I've loved it ever since.
2. You're a San Diego native. What do you love most about San Diego?
That's tough to answer. There are so many great things about this city. Besides the weather, one of the best things about this city would probably be that you are close enough to Los Angeles and Las Vegas, but still far enough away that you don't get caught up in those "lifestyles". You can get to the beach, the desert, and snow all in one day if you want.
3. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I was such a nerd growing up...no joke! I wanted to be a Forensic Psychologist.
4. What usually catches your ear first when you hear a record?
The beat - definitely the beat. The beat establishes how I'm going to feel throughout the entire song. If I'm not feeling the beats, the instruments, the tune right out the gate, it'll be hard for me to love it.
5. Everyone thinks of San Diego as a real laid back kind of city. How accurate is that image?
VERY ACCURATE! San Diego has a beach bum attitude, but with an urban mind set. Chill and relaxed, but when it comes down to business San Diego knows how to get it done.
6. What's your favorite song on the station right now?
Miguel - Adorn
7. Hooked on any TV shows?
I'm absolutely obsessed with The Big Bang Theory! I'm also a big fan of Supernatural, True Blood, Game Of Thrones, and The Walking Dead. What can I say? I watch a lot of primetime.
8. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I'm such a creature of habit. I really have no spare time. I get up, go to work - listen to music all day, go to the gym - train muay thai, go home watch TV, read maybe, and repeat.
9. If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?
Only because 'tis the season for spookiness, I'd totally love to go on Ghost Hunters. It's a show on SyFy where these two guys go to places around the world and track the presence of paranormals. I'd be so scared to do it, but I know I'd just love it!
10. Hypothetical question...If you were getting married in two months and you could have any group or singer perform at your reception, who would you choose?
Can you get NSync back together?
Bonus Questions
Are you set with your 2012 Halloween costume? What or who are you dressing up as?
Sorry...that is a secret.
Your boss, R-Dub, is a taco freak. What's your 'go to' favorite food?
"Taco freak" is an understatement. He's obsessed. For me, my 'go to' would probably be between sushi and pho.
