BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I started as an intern with CBS Radio/Orlando. I got started parttime in promotions, then worked my way on air. I got hired as MD/Nights for WKHT, left for a while and am now on my second tour here.
1. What got you into radio?
Calling 99 Jamz for shout-outs for my friends, I started calling Kimmie on the way home after Saturday nights out and she told me that she thought I’d be good in radio.
2. What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?
I honestly had no clue. I never really thought that far ahead.
3. More fit or less fit since beginning of the pandemic?
About the same. At the beginning, I drank more often, but eventually everything went back to normal.
4. You can cook. During the pandemic did you discover or perfect a new recipe or dish?
I’m always perfecting new dishes. My video section on Facebook always suggests new recipes and I save them to make later.
5. You were APD/MD at WKHT and left in 2018 after four years. What defined your time away from WKHT professionally?
I just needed a little break, got to spend some time with family. I needed to hit that reset.
6. What would probably surprise most people about Knoxville?
There’s a lot to do here. I remember when I moved here, my sister expected to see livestock, but the night life is cool, the food scene is growing, Dollywood, Splash Country & Soaky Mountain are a lot of fun, Gatlinburg gives you touristy things to do (I recommend moonshine tasting), and of course the Smoky Mountains are super close.
7. What's your favorite song on the station right now?
Wale "Angles". I’m one of the apparent rare people who think “I Need a Girl” pt. 1 >>> pt. 2, so this hits a dope nostalgia note.
8. If you weren't in radio, what do you think you'd be doing professionally?
Something food related, for sure. Maybe hosting a cooking show (best of both worlds).
9. What has the Covid-19 pandemic taught you about yourself and those closest to you?
Not much really. For the most part, not that much changed for me. We still were in the building doing at least our shows (mostly) live. So other than not being able to go out and do stuff, not much changed.
10. Do something outdoors or binge-watch something on Netflix?
Listen to a podcast
Bonus Questions
Guilty music pleasure? (I LOVE The Mavericks and Texas swing
As a kid when my family drove us from New Jersey to Florida they played the hell out of the “Beaches” soundtrack. "From a Distance" and "Wind Beneath my Wings" by Bette Midler both have a special place in my heart.
