BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I began interning in the market in my sophomore year. Wired 96.5 offered me a Promotions gig and then weekend shifts. Shortly after, I was given the opportunity to do Late Nights full time, followed by a co-host position on the Chio in the Morning Show, during which time I graduated from college. Then middays opened up and I've been here for the last three and a half years!
1. What was your last non-Industry job?
I used to work at a little Italian restaurant in South Philly that was kind of "dinner theater-esque". In between serving the guests, we'd take turns singing show tunes or arias accompanied by the piano. It was a blast!
2. Why Radio?
In college, I actually wanted to get into TV. I thought an internship in radio first would look good on my resume. After seeing everything behind the scenes though, I just fell in love and continued on the radio path.
3. Aren't you a Philadelphia native? What do you think that brings to your personality and your on-air work?
I was born and raised in South Philadelphia, right near the infamous Pat's and Geno's cheese steaks. As many sports fans know, Philly is kind of a rough town and you have to be outspoken and tough to get noticed. -And it's even harder being a woman. I think those qualities come through for me on air. Philly listeners relate and can really appreciate a woman's strength.
4. Who would be your dream in-studio guest?
Mariah-freakin-Carey...or Celine but, she's my own guilty pleasure.
5. Ignoring the movie 2012...what do you see for yourself in five years?
Saw the movie btw...awesome! With everything I've learned and will have continued to learn, in five years I would like to see myself programming a Top 40/M station...or at least strongly moving in that direction. I was recently given the opportunity to program Wired's HD station, which is one huge stepping stone on that path.
6. Say you had a guest in town who has never been to Philadelphia, where do you go for dinner and where for drinks?
First stop would be Buddakan, which features modern/Asian cuisine and transports you to Japan with the atmosphere. Then, weather permitting, we'd head to Continental Midtown for rooftop martinis, literally surrounded by the Philly skyline.
7. Who do you consider to be your mentor(s)?
Kim Douglas, who has been in this market for 15 years has taught me a great deal. Also Wired's APD, Kannon, is my on site mentor and Chio is on that list as well, from my time with him on the morning show.
8. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I'm out doing club events every week so I don't really go out much otherwise. I enjoy spending time at home playing the piano, writing, reading and I take my cat out for walks...yea...he's awesome :) Exercise is something I enjoy as well, from karate to yoga. And I LOVE amusement parks!!
9. If you were to leave Radio today and you could choose any other occupation, what would it be?
Broadway!
10. It's Saturday night at 11:55. Where would the "Casey-Cam" find you?
Saturday nights you can find me hosting at The Landmark in NJ! If I'm off, I'm in bed....with my sexy chick ;-)
Bonus Questions
Kannon and your PD, Leo Baldwin are doing double duty working you're your Country sister station, WXTU. Ever pull a shift on the Country side?
I adore Country and listen to 'XTU constantly. I would ABsolutely fill in to talk up some Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts!
If you could be on any TV reality show, which would you want to compete on?
Ugh!!... I would NEVER want to be on one because even the cooler folks look like train wrecks! For the purposes of this questionnaire-a la-AllAccess though, I guess if the UFC ever did an Ultimate Fighter for women, I'd want to go kick some ass on that!
