ALT has a strong live & local air staff helping us build our foundation, as well as the tremendous imaging talents of Dan Stone. In the past year, we've established two big annual events - Summer Open at Forest Hills Stadium & Not So Silent Night at Barclays Center - and put on tons of cozy sessions at intimate New York venues with some of the format's biggest artists. We're constantly engaging our listeners on social, standing next to them at concerts, and listening to their suggestions about how to make this station as great as the city it's in. BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I started my radio career 20 years ago at WBRU in Providence and made stops at alternative stations WBTZ (99.9 The Buzz)/Burlington, VT; WPLY (Y100)/Philadelphia and WKQX (Q101)/Chicago. I was most recently at KNOU (NOW 96.3)/ St. Louis (home of the Stanley Cup Champion Blues) before returning to ALT and moving to New York last year.
1. Congrats on recently adding APD duties at ALT 92.3. How has your role changed since joining the station in May 2018?
Thanks! My role has grown immensely: I've been able to tackle more strategic projects over the past year, as well as helping our PD Mike Kaplan and MD Bryce Segall with music. I also handle a lot of the day-to-day tasks to keep the station on track while continuing to fill my on-air and digital content roles.
2. Give us the 411 on ALT 92.3 and how the ALT brand is building in New York City.

3. Tell us about your midday show from 10a-2p.
I run a pretty brief, bright, and tight ship in middays: you'll hear a lot of musical and pop culture content in "headline/punchline" format.
4. How would you describe your on-air style?
It's Weekend Update-era Tina Fey - but on the radio!
5. What is your show prep routine?
Life is prep, right? I observe as much as I can about New York and New Jersey life and share it with our listeners, and I use Feedly to aggregate music, entertainment and local news sources. Then its write, revise, execute and repeat.
6. What do you love most about being on-air?
I've done the midday shift most of my career, and I love being part of our listeners' workday routines. If I can make someone's job a little bit easier with their favorite band or a bad pun, that's a win.
7. What is your favorite part of your job?
Problem solving. Every job has its challenges. Finding the best ways to use our resources to overcome them makes me especially proud of myself and my team.
8. You have recently worked in Top 40 and Hot AC Radio but your track record is mostly Alternative Radio. What made you fall in love with the format?
First of all, shout out to Tommy Mattern in St. Louis for encouraging me to step outside of my comfort zone and join him in launching KNOU-FM: My time in Top 40 gave me a fresh perspective on how to approach things I'd done the same way for years. Back in the day, I woke up to my alarm clock radio playing "Best Imitation Of Myself" by Ben Folds Five, a song I'd never heard before and immediately fell in love with, and I knew I wanted to help bring that feeling to other people.
9. Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day without _________?
Practicing mindfulness. As a wise man once said, life moves pretty fast, and life in New York even more so. I take time every day to reset and center myself, even if it's just a few mindful breaths on the train, so that I appreciate the moment I'm in and what I can accomplish with it.
10. What is a typical workday like for you with a 2 year old son?
I'm very fortunate that my husband stays at home with our son, which makes my long hours easier. We all spend a little time together in the morning watching Sesame Street, then I work hard all day so I can enjoy family dinner and storytime at night.
Bonus Questions
First record ever purchased?
I usually answer this question with the two CDs I bought the day I saved enough babysitting money for my own player: Pearl Jam's Ten and Under the Pink from Tori Amos. 90s forever!
