So I read in All Access Net News today about a research report that identifies radio's most valuable listeners. (You can read it here: http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/78999/radio-s-most-valuable-listeners-identified)
The study talked to over 2,000 women (age 15-54) and found four groups of consumers that are radio's "most-valuable listeners." These four groups are your at-work listeners, "social media highly actives," listeners that visit station websites and join your clubs and listeners that join your Facebook pages.
Now, didn't we talk about that some time back? I believe we did.
It's confirmation that you guys need to be involved with your listeners where THEY are. And where are they? At work in the community, involved in social media (i.e. Twitter, Gowalla, Foursquare, Facebook), online on your website, and on Facebook.
Are you in those places? Or are you just on the air?
If you want to connect in a REAL way with your listeners, REALLY get involved in what they're doing. Find out what they're doing, where they spend time, etc. Not in a stalker-ish kind of way. Goodness, no. But connect with them in those places; give them information there and ask for feedback there.
And might I say, there is a lot of other interesting stuff in that report. Not just the part that I was right about. You probably should check it out, and take some notes.
