Josh Shroy: Deftones, Incubus and jazz
Jeremy Miller: Death Cub For Cutie, Treos, MxPx
Adam Taylor: mute math
Micah Sannan: The Police, Stevie Ray Vaughn
Jessy Ribordy: Moody blues, Bob Marley, Inner Circle2) Give us a brief rundown of your journey as a band from start to BEC.
A brief rundown of our journey would be starting out as a dorky local band around Albany, OR , playing local shows with our friends. We practiced a lot and we didn't have jobs - we just practiced like eight hours a day.
3) What can we expect on the new record musically, lyrically?
A lot more dynamics and crescendos. Lyrically speaking, it's way more simple but put in a poetic form. We are trying to paint some pictures that make sense with the music.
4) What's the underlying message you'll be trying to convey with the new record?
That there is life behind the things we see everyday. There is a world behind the scenes from the physical world we are in now.
5) Which do you enjoy more: the process or the performance?
Performance because you get to play your songs in new ways every time, instead of just one chance on the record.
6) What urges you to make music? Is it only about the music or about what the listeners/fans get out of it?
I can't imagine life without music and I just love it so much that it makes me want to be involved in it so much. I hope that listeners get something out of it, but music affects everyone in different ways.
7) Did you have any "ah-ha" moments in the studio, where you thought, "OK, now we have a record"?
Yeah, always during keyboard parts. It's such a cool instant and it's fun to mess with weird sounds and that's always the frosting on the cake.
8) What's your favorite song to play live? Why?
"Islands" because it's vibey, cool and really dramatic.
9) Any interesting or funny experiences/stories from radio stops yet?
One time we prank-called Ryan from Kutless on live radio. The result was pretty amazing.
10) Three records in three years, new one on the way, do you ever get to take a vacation?
Ha, sort of. It's never just free time though. Anytime there is time off, we're writing new music.
Bonus Questions
1) Who would be a dream artist to record with?
Sting, Paul McCartney
2) What is your favorite city to visit?
Dusseldorf, Germany
3) What is your favorite road meal?
Either possum or skunk depending on how long it's been dead
4) Musical guilty pleasures
Any techno music
