1. If you could summarize your career journey into one word what would that word be and why?
Fortunate. I have had the privilege of working with some the best people, best companies, and best artists in the music business, and that has led to great opportunities for myself and great accomplishments for the artists I've worked with.
2. What's one thing you wish you'd known about your job when you first started?
How much the music business would continually evolve and change over the years. What makes the business successful hasn't changed, but the methods of navigating it for success have changed continually.
3. Some great advice you recently received is…
Trust the process. It's not always easy to see how you are going to get from point A to point Z with something you are trying to achieve, but having a plan and process that you have faith in allows you to remain patient, focused and determined when you face the challenges that come along with that pursuit.
4. Tell us about someone who you really respect and why?
A recent person that comes to mind is Jay DeMarcus. Though I knew of Jay from his career as member of the Country band Rascal Flatts, I really didn't know much about him or his faith until I began working with him at Red Street Records in 2022. With Jay being the Co-owner and CEO of Red Street Records, I have had the opportunity to hear his heart for Christian music and his desire to make an impact on the world through Red Street Records and it is sincere and inspiring. Jay's early Christian music career as a member of the group East to West, has come full circle as he has put his time, talents, expertise and resources from a successful Country music career back into building a Christian record label and publishing company. I respect him for doing that and for the way he leads at Red Street.
5. How has God pulled you out of your comfort zone?
I have worked for several established Christian record labels over the years that were owned by bigger general market music companies, but I had never worked for an independent start-up label like Red Street Records until this past year. There are different challenges and opportunities that come along with being a part of an indie label versus a major label, and that has pulled me out of my comfort zone at times. Those challenges create opportunities for growth and innovation that may not have been possible any other way, so I am grateful for it.
6. What's one thing you try to do when life gets hard?
Pray and realign my perspective.
7. What's something about you that would surprise most people?
I used to have long 80's rock hair and played guitar and sang in a Christian rock band.
8. What's your go to song when the windows are down and you're driving on the highway?
Tom Petty "Running Down a Dream"
9. In three words describe your ideal vacation.
Stress free adventure
