1. How in the world did you even get into radio?
I had the tremendous opportunity to attend College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout Missouri, a work study college in which every student has an on campus workstation. In order to avoid working at the school cafeteria all four years, I applied for the campus radio station and somehow got in. But I never expected to fall absolutely in love with radio! And boy did I!
2. What's one thing you wish you had known about radio when you first started?
Work on controlling your voice. I listen to old breaks I used to make back in college now and wow was I using my head voice. I naturally have a higher pitched voice and I wish I had learned to speak from my diaphragm better when I first began!
3. How has God pulled you out of your comfort zone?
My entire family on both of my parents' sides have never left our home state of Arkansas. Attending an out of state college and ultimately settling two hours away from family all on my own was very out of my comfort zone. But I truly believe that being part on the KWND/KWFC family is exactly where God wants me to be. He keeps opening doors and reminding me that He is always with me!
4. Some great advice you recently received is…
Be yourself on-air, not what you think other people want you to sound like.
5. Tell us about someone who you really respect and why?
I really love and respect my work supervisor from KCOZ, Josh Williams. He went from being a boss to a mentor and now he is just family. He has always encouraged my creative side and he is quick to offer sound advice.
6. What's one thing you try to do when life gets hard?
Pray… a lot. And talk to my sister.
7. What's something about you that would surprise most people?
I'm left handed and that left hand is usually sweaty.
8. What's your go to song when the windows are down and you're driving on the highway?
Just one? Oh man. Probably Stardust Chords by Greta Van Fleet
9. In three words describe your ideal vacation.
Beach, Longboard, Smoothies
10. Tell us one thing that you bought recently that WASN'T on your grocery list.
Fresh flowers! I've started treating myself to fresh flowers from the grocery store anytime the old ones die because I think I just need more flowers in my life
