All of us need time to step back out of the bubble so we can learn and evaluate how we approach what we do. Next week’s virtual All Access Audio Summit will allow us to do that. Hopefully, the information provided will inspire people to inject some new ideas and energy into their work. And in some instances, some of what we hear might remind us to revisit things that worked well in the past.
It’s A Brave New World …
Radio audio media is massive and still growing. New technology and emerging platforms have turned our industry into what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. coined as "the urgency of now." While we are being bombarded daily with so much useful information, try and control the amount of time you spend with it. The goal is to comprehend one thing before moving on to the next thing. I call it "the next shiny thing" syndrome. (We're all guilty of it, myself included)Lots To Take In …
I’m warning you now because for two days you’re going to see and hear things that are going to put your brain cells into warp speed. Collecting tidbits does not do anyone any good if they don’t do something with it. Immediately after each day of our summit (4/21 and 4/22), pick up the phone and call someone who also watched the panels, presentations, and special interviews. Compare notes. Verbal communication defines, creates, and refines ideas. A 10-minute phone conversation can do a lot of positive things.We All Need This …
Working in radio and audio media has become a rapidly evolving process. More than ever, we must think “in the moment” and about the moments ahead. That’s what our summit is about. We all need to stay motivated, ignore the negative nay-sayers, and look for opportunities at all platforms -- terrestrial radio and all audio media.
