Welcome back to "Conversations With Kendall"… This week's column is less of a column and more of a demonstration, demonstrating that I do practice what I preach (sometimes, LOL, let's not get crazy).
It's super hard to get going, get out there, and keep elements of your everyday routine fresh and fun. I know for myself, there's things I used to love doing, things that used to be a part of my everyday routine that are just not accessible the way they used to be, and therefore have become less fun (The circumstances we are in are a real killer).
If we travel back to my most recent column for a sec, you can see that this is me fighting with the "person number two" inside me that wants to take over… NO DANGITT… I'M PERSON NUMBER ONE!!
Back to what I was talking about--we have to go out of our way to create situations and experiences these days, it just requires so much more effort to keep things in our lives fresh and exciting than it did pre-COVID.
To elaborate further, you can usually catch me attempting some half assed back yard workout… you know the one I'm talking about… it's like, I'm doing it, but I'm not really doing it, you know? I recently moved, living by the ocean, so it has been super fun to engage in sporty outdoor physical activity that isn't in a gym, but let's be real, for everyday stuff a gym is so necessary, or at least a solid collection of substantial workout equipment at home that exceeds a smorgasbord of bands and 10 lb weights (I'm just talking about me, not everyone, I need a gym to achieve the goals I have).
I've struggled to say the least, to fulfill that gym fix without a gym, and because of that I'm all off my game. No bueno!! So I decided to actively try to spice up an element of my life that has always brought me so much joy, and lately seems to just feel like a total hopeless drag, fitness baby!!
THE SOLUTION!! I got together with a good friend of mine, Chris D'Silva (@chrisfdsilva). He is so motivating, fun, and positive. We got a little group together, exchanged ideas, got a great workout in, took some awesome videos that we can all use on our platforms. I left with the feeling I have been looking for, contentment. We killed it!! I hadn't had a "fun" workout in a long time; all it took was a little effort to change what I wasn't content with. See the video below..
My point is that good friends and family are there to motivate us, bring us joy, and get us outside of the box we live in and always tap into that support system! Call up some friends, do something you have perhaps lost your love for with people that you haven't caught up with in awhile. Soul food at it's finest. It's always easier to be consistent when you have a team of supporters behind you.
Make some plans, reconnect with things that you used to be excited about, and have a great week!
