Whitney Houston...Whitney Houston of the 1980's anyway.
2. Where did you grow up?
Richmond, VA...Go SKINS! Go HOKIES!
3. Did you move to Nashville specifically to work in the music business?
Yes, I was determined in college to get here as soon as I graduated. I had blinders on & I saw nothing else. A week after graduation Denise Roberts currently of Hi Fi Fusion, who I met while getting a hair cut, and I moved here. We were roommates for almost 4 years. It was strange how jobs, friends, and a place to live just fell into place. The move was meant to be.
4. What was your first job in the music business?
Ten Ten Music Group for about two weeks. I talked the office manager into letting me work for free so I could learn the ropes. A job opened at Borman Entertainment and I jumped the following week. I was with Ten Ten long enough, however, to meet the lead singer of a group called The Ranch and see him play at the Exit Inn. Borman began managing him about a year or so later. I hear he has gone on to do great things.
5. What was the first Country record that you fell in love with?
I didn't like country music until I was about 9 or 10. Being stuck in a car, travelling for 14 hours to Alabama for a family reunion with your Grandma Jean, Mom, Sis and Aunt will have you singing "Fishin' in The Dark," "Swingin," " On the Other Hand" and "Lady," all the way home. I would have to say Kenny Rogers' 20 Greatest Hits was my first country love. Randy Travis Storms of Life was a close 2nd.
6. Who are some of your favorite Country artists both new and old?
Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Trace Adkins, Alison Krauss, LeAnn Womack, Dolly Parton, Patty Loveless, Dixie Chicks, Allison Moore, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Radney Foster, Hank William, Jr. Kenny Rogers, Randy Travis, Bob Wills.
7. What other types of music do you listen to besides Country?
I love Blues like Johnny Lang, Keb Mo, Marc Broussard, and Bonnie Raitt, plus Big Band, Swing, Classical, & Pop/Rock Alternative-Sting, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, Ray Lamontagne
8. What CD are you playing repeatedly in your car?
The Don Kelley Band, they are seasoned musicians that play at Robert's on Lower Broadway in Nashville.
9. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Hear good music, shop in downtown Franklin, hang with my 2 dogs, riding around in the country looking to save turtles from the middle of the road after a hard summer rain and visit my family & friends.
10. What made you interested in the job at ALL ACCESS?
Ally Clark, seriously she just kept talking about the job. I kept thinking when I got home everyday maybe I could do that and saying I need to call them. When something like that plays over and over in your head you have to listen and go with it.
