Oh…Great.
I'm not sure who had "possible asteroid strike" in the 2020 Pool but there's a .41% chance that we get hit the day before the election. I would dust off any old "space junk" ideas you might have, maybe do an insure promotion, possibly a parody song. Why? Because we can.
More Mask Incentivizing
Repeat after me: free groceries…”free groceries”…are a GREAT prize…”Are a great prize”…always…”Always.”.
Good. Now go and sell this promotion from Sunny 98.1 in San Diego.
Paws For A Cause
Meanwhile in Greensboro, 93.1 The Wolf is selling branded facemasks to raise money for the food shelf.
Karen Cash
I was on a Google meeting on Thursday and a Marketing Director had a pretty interesting observation. “Sticking ‘bills’ or ‘stimulus’ or ‘bailout’ or ‘recovery’ on a national contest, by this time in the game, kind of gives it a depressing connotation. It just reminds people of how much 2020 sucks.”
And you know, she’s right.
Why not have some fun? Why not try to lighten the mood? Be a distraction? Be an escape? Her suggestion was “Karen Cash” and have all of the imaging done by a very very angry woman who demands to speak to the supervisor at the station because she hasn’t won yet, the line is busy, they won’t let her play contests at work, it’s disrupting to her kids in the car, “WAP” gives her poodle seizures and she has a letter from her doctor that she doesn’t need to pay taxes on winnings.
A Costume Parade
Halloween 2020 is going to be interesting. People are still going to dress up in costume, probably more so than previous years. (See my above comment about “escapism”) But they will need NTV or non-traditional venues for showcasing their costume skills. Especially parents with kids.
Galleries and social media? Duh. Absolutely.
The aforementioned Marketing Director, when we were discussing drive-thru Halloween events, suggested a driveup pageant. You’d have a reviewing stand with judges, a long line of cars, cars are prompted to pull into a “winners circle” safely away from the judges, the kids get out, they show off their costumes which is all Facebook Lived and as they pull away get some candy in plastic bags.
The other permutation of this is an actual parade that would drive past senior living facilities so the residents can get some much needed entertainment.
