High Schools
If you’re a station with younger demos, you’re heading into the last 60 days where you can (more) easily engage the kids before they split for the Summer. Prom is definitely the next best opp. Hot in DC is doing a bracket contest to look for the best school in the market.
Gas Man
We’re a format that is notorious for having a short attention span. If we don’t miss something completely, like a pandemic, we’ll acknowledge it with something and then move on as if it was suddenly and miraculously over.
Gas prices aren’t going down for awhile and I would say that it’s probably the #1 issue with your listeners.
A bunch of stations are doing gas as their group contest theme. Cool.
98.9 The Bull in Seattle has begun teasing “Gas Man” with a brilliant video supported by imaging.

Great campaigns have characters. Progressive would be just another nameless, vibeless insurance carrier if it wasn’t for Flo.
So…Gas Man could be the character who drives your group contest.
Or, you could do a version of the Fugitive every day: someone on the streets…has gas. Follow the clues and ask everyone, “Are you from (station) and do you have gas?”
You could also do a version of Cashman, which is singularly the greatest diary contest ever. Go out, walk up to people and ask them what station they listen to. If they respond with the correct phrase, give them gas.
