102.7 The Pole
If you’re late to the dance so-to-speak, I’ve been having some fun with a bumper format in Kingston, Ontario. A bumper format is something you wedge in between the old format and the new one. Like Kung Pao in Norfolk or the Tone Loc stunts at the Wilds in Tampa and San Francisco. And it’s worked this time.
Tremendous word-of-mouth, news stories and coverage. Rogers in Vancouver set the bar pretty high with their Rage Against The Machine launch.
Rob and Jon h’ve heard from air talent from as far away as Brazil and Indonesia who want to be a part of this, and a guy in Chicago who has done imaging for The Stones felt compelled to send five pieces of spec imaging for them to use. And a radio group in Slovenia reached out to me.
In terms of data they had 3000 unique visitors to their site and 1706 streams in the first 12 hours.
The K-Rock Omelette
Since the Dawn Of Radio, “Scrambled Jams” has been a homerun. Take some hooks and put them in a blender, hit “Frape’” and walk away for ten minutes. ID all 6 or 7 songs and win. K-Rock in St. Johns is doing it as the “Omelette” for a ski vacation. The K-Rock Omelette | K-Rock 975 (krockrocks.com)
Two Piece Tuesday
If you were to ask Rick Thomas what Z-90 contest most disrupted local phone service, he would say the Incredible Bikini Jam Weekend. For that audience in that market, it was a great prize. So if you could get some for the summer, sticking them on Tuesdays would be one way to umbrella them as opposed to just a random series of giveaways.
Hit & Won
One of the stations was looking for some one week contests to wedge in between group contests and other, longer giveaways.
WIOG did something with Peeps for Easter where they awarded some different colored Peeps to designated callers, these were laid across the street and the last one to get run over, won.
This COULD be done with numbered marshmallows.
