CashGPT
Joel Murphy was the first to have some fun with Chat GPT in a John Mayer promo. MIX - JOHN MAYER (PROMO - SHORT) by cprpromo (soundcloud.com)
Live 95.5 is using it as their group contest.
Garden Stores
One of the agencies I work with has a garden center that sells seeds, tools…all the stuff for home and farm gardening.
In most markets there’s a food shelf that will take produce. So…the idea that they’re pitching is this:
- Use Radio to highlight the stats on the number of people currently needing food assistance.
- Solicit groups (school, civic, religious) that would grow vegetables for the cause.
- Get them set with seeds and mulch and other needs.
The $50,000 Cash Hit
Let me be absolutely clear….you don’t need $50,000. Taylor tickets or any other good tickets (PINK as an example) would work. With PINK, you’d just shorten the promotion to a week.
This is a contest that’s been done in Canada. They did it for $5000 in Ottawa and a concert trip in St. Johns. Vancouver was the BIG cash prize, but again, don’t overthink this.
You would pick an artist like Taylor and proclaim that “We play more Taylor Swift music than anyone else in (market). When we play “Blank Slate”, be caller (dial position) and you’re going to the concert.”
And here’s the brilliant part. They then finish that line with “in fact, we’re playing Taylor in just 19 minutes” or whatever. People tune in, it’s not the right song, and then listen for the next appointment time. And on and on until you play the right song. For $50,000, they went four weeks and then, finally took out transit ads that proclaimed, “It’s tomorrow.” In one demo in AM drive in PPM, they scored a 65 share.
Obviously, mileage may vary but Taylor tickets have a ginormous perceived value. I bet you could get three weeks out of a pair using this methodology.
