Show Us Your Hits!
Am still in a Mardi Gras state of mind.
Because you probably care about web stats, note that on the Monday after Valentines Dave Ryan's section of the KDWB website was #2 in Clear Channel in terms of traffic. (Granted, it's a small mom-and-pop company with few holdings, but you get the idea) Why? Because there were photos of listeners in pajamas that were posted from Friday night's Valentine event. With that in mind, Jamz in Phoenix did a contest of "hot listeners in uniforms" that blew up the hit count. And 97 Rock in Buffalo is honoring their Winter past-time of snowmobiling http://www.97rock.com:80/Article.asp?id=1657925&spid=21992
Gown Town & Loco For Limos
I think that Wild in Tampa was the first out-of-the-gate with the campaign where you collect prom dresses for low income students so they can afford to attend the big dance. Ace & TJ are on year eleven http://www.kiss951.com/pages/6257386.php?contentType=4&contentId=5504549 and the Zoo at KLUC is on year three. http://www.kluc.com/The-3rd-Annual-Gown-Town/6072470
Limos are like roses for Valentines, turkeys at Thanksgiving and trees at Christmas. The station who hathe the mothe in Maythe winneth. As witnessed by KGGI where they locked down a dozen stretches in January and then gave them away on the night show. Phone service in southern California suffered irreparable damage. They won't trade. Prom is Money Season. But you could also get a client to pay for them and make it a sales promotion.
"We're Counting Cards"
Kiss in Charlotte had a pretty cool trip from Budweiser to go to a pool party in Las Vegas. ANYTHING with LV needs to be dressed up and had fun with. To miss those kinds of ops with this kind of destination would qualify you for an exciting career in the fastfood industry.
At Kiss we created the character of a bikini-clad swim-up blackjack dealer who had to leave Vegas after, uh, this thing with this golfer. At appt. times all week she dealt a card. Keep track of the value of all the cards and on Friday afternoon call in with the total to win the trip.
Theme. Character. Forced listening at appointment times. Bingo.
Private Acoustic Shows
BRMB in Birmingham has an intimate unplugged show with "Scouting For Girls". They're going to image it as how music always sounds better and more unique when done acoustically. To prove that, they're getting a nine year-old who is taking guitar lessons and have him play (butcher) some songs. ID the title, call and win tickets.
