1) Kygo is it your real name?
Kyrre Gorvell-Dahll, it's Norwegian ... Kygo is the first two letters of my first name and the first to letters of my surname. It was actually like a user name that I had for a school page when I was in high school and then my friends started calling me it.
2) You look pretty young; was that just a few years ago?
I really don't remember how many years ago it was, but I'm 23.
3) When did you start DJing and producing?
I started producing four-and-a-half years ago and then started DJ-ing two-and-a-half years ago. DJing is pretty new to me. I played piano when I was six years old and I really enjoyed as I got older, producing music.
4) Did you think when you first started producing that you would be as big as you are today?
No not at; I had dreams about it but I never thought it would happen so fast. I'm living the dream and having a good time.
5) Is your current single is "Firestone" featuring Conrad?
I released that one in December, but I actually just released a new one with Parson James "Stole The Show."
6) What role did you play on the Kyla La Grange single "Cut Your Teeth"?
That was actually a remix I did for her, and then we talked and because she loved the remix and I loved the track, we decided to do an alternative version of the original, so it became Kygo & Kyla La Grange.
7) Are you working on any remixes?
I am working on a few remixes but I'm currently focused on original tracks. That has been my main focus the last six months to a year, but I enjoy doing remixes. That is what got me here in the first place and I will definitely continue to do them.
8) What's your favorite remix that you've done to date?
That's a hard question to answer, probably "Cut Your Teeth" because I was really happy with the melody.
9) Are you on tour?
I'm not currently on tour but I'm playing a lot of festivals this summer and playing Europe.
10) Is there a favorite city, country or club that you love playing?
It's hard to say; one of the most beautiful places I played is Red Rocks in Colorado. The scenery with the red mountains is the most beautiful place I played.
Bonus Questions
If I was to go into your iPhone and check for the most played song what would it be?
I actually don't know as I listen to a lot of different music, but it might be the new track from Klingande "Riva," which I really love. It's a great track and one I have been playing on repeat lately.
If you were not DJing tonight or in the studio producing and could go out and hear one DJ spin, who would it be?
There are so many good DJs out there. Avicii has been my main inspiration; he's the one who got me into Electronic music in the first place, so I would probably say Avicii.
With all the traveling you do what's the one must-have travel item with you at all times?
I guess my computer and my headset.
