WYJB/Albany, NY.1) What led you to a career in radio? Was there a defining moment, which made you realize "this is it"?
Listening to WABC while growing up.
2) What was your first job in radio? Early influences?
(A 100,00 watter) WDDJ-Paducah, KY. Thank you Tony, R&R, Richards & Lance, and DeBock at WJRZ/Ocean County, NJ.
3) What career path would you be following had it not been for this industry?
I would be a major part of an advertising firm.
4) What makes your station or market unique? How does this compare to other markets or stations you have worked at?
Albany, NY provides the best of both worlds...living stability, with the most beautiful section of the Northeast...and a top market competition level of talent capability.
5) What is your favorite radio station outside of the market and why?
WPLJ/New York. Heritage, and always on top of what listeners want.
6) What can we be doing with our station web sites to better our stations as a whole?
Sites are not only a station/client beneficiary, but they should be used as an upper tier to endorse "locality" at its fullest.
7) Besides your own, what is your favorite radio format?
"Yesterday & Today's Hits". It provides a "wow" factor with its mix, while keeping in tune with what's currently hot. This in my eyes is a favoring factor amongst the majority of women demos.
8) Tell us what music we would find on your I-Pod right now and what is it you enjoy about that particular selection?
Everything from 70's Southern Rock, Today's Hits, Classic Rock, and of course, James Taylor!
9) What type of features do you run on the station?
One of the most listened to hours in the Capital Region..."Lynn's 70's & 80's Lunchbox." The show is packed with great music and daily trivia.
10) What is the one truth that has held constant throughout your career?
Be yourself...it makes your job both on and off the air MUCH easier!
Bonus Questions
1) Do you have any good stalker stories? Misty requests? "Fatal Attractions?"
An overly HUGE monster truck with a loon listener once pulled up and blocked the station's front door within inches!
Another time, two guys chased me in my car over to Long Beach Island and made me side-swipe a fence...so I could pull UNDER a house to hide.
2) You're stuck on a deserted island and you only have 5 CDs with you. What are they?
Billy Joel's "Songs In The Attic;" Jackson Browne's "Late For The Sky;" The Beatles "Sgt. Pepper's;" ELO's "Out Of The Blue;" and Aerosmith's "Toys In The Attic."
3) Who is the most amazing talent you've worked with?
Joe Rosatti of Z-100, NYC. I knew this guy was going to make it!
4) What has been the station's biggest accomplishment?
Maintaining #1 ratings in both middays and afternoon drive in the majority (if not all) Female demos!
