1) What Got You Interested In Radio?
I became interested in radio after I had the opportunity to guest host with one of my favorite morning show personalities. I had a ball and it slowly started creeping into my veins from that point on!
2) What makes your station or market unique? How does this compare to other markets or stations you have worked at?
WUHU 107 is unique because we are a hybrid station. We get to take the best of Top 40 and Hot AC and make it our own! We are the only station of the kind in our area.
3) How do you prep yourself for your radio shift?
I read magazines, I check blog sites, I use several wonderful show-prep services, and of course...I watch a lot of TV! LOL!
4) What type of features do you run on the station?
Gossip, Workplace Acknowledgement, and Cross-Daypart Trivia!
5) How are you using new music technologies to work with the music you program on your station, in production, and in your personal life?
I found an iPhone app that works just like Adobe Audition! It's wonderful!
6) What should radio be doing now to secure a role in the future of the ever-changing media landscape?
Stay interactive, find out what appeals to your audience and own it like you created it. We need to use everything from Facebook, to Twitter, to FourSquare, to Skype, and you have to stay on top of it!
7) Why would someone listen to your station instead of listening to music on their iPod?
We keep it live and local. You won't hear about storms and school closings on your iPod!
8) What other stations and markets do you like to monitor?
I keep up with WKLX and WOVO in our area. I also monitor WRVW and WUBT in Nashville.
9) How much difference is there between your programming at night, versus programming in the day?
At night we do get a bit hotter and we lean a bit more Rhythmic in that daypart.
10) What do you like best about working in this format?
I love the music! Pop culture is what I am all about so this is an easy gig for me.
Bonus Questions
1) How would you describe the music and imaging on your station?
Edgy and in your face!
2) Favorite artist you have met?
KT Tunstall. What a cool person!
3) What was the most successful low budget promotion idea your station ever did?
"Babes of Summer." (It's our cutest baby contest).
4) What's one thing that would surprise many people to learn about you?
I'm very shy in person until I get to know you, and I don't really talk a lot once the mic is off.
5) What has been your station's biggest accomplishment?
Our Radiothon for Kentucky Children's Hospital and our fundraiser for Children's Miracle Network Hospital have been very successful for us. Even with the economy struggling, we still managed to increase our fundraising!
