Now is the time to plan Halloween promotions. (the biggest marketing season after Christmas). And here's another budget tip. Don't spend needless money on promotions that lose money. Each promotion should be looked at as a revenue & cash flow generator. The margin of profit should equal or exceed your overall cash flow margin. Never accept a promotion that loses money. The old " well, it's a good ratings getter" usually doesn't cut it.

Going to the NAB next week? Plan ahead. Make sure you visit the national rep (they are usually there), potential vendors, employee candidates, and trade leaders. Make your visit productive. Bring aspirin, get rest this week. (I'll be there, look for me in the lobby saying "when ja get in?")

Have an opening? Has it been posted? Your web site, sister stations, and community leaders all MUST be contacted with the information. (unless you are promoting from within). Make a sincere effort. The FCC is issuing fines for non-compliance.

The 5th anniversary of 9/11 today will be on the collective minds of all Americans. (and will be for sometime.) Most of us GM's would assume the air staff will offer the response, dialogue & empathy this story deserves. Most will, some won't. A gentle reminder to the PD about "saying something stupid" may be in order.
