Please begin by giving us a brief career history ...
25 years of fun. From a small AM Country station in Colorado, to mornings on KATT/OKC, to KILO/Colorado Springs, to Alternative WXDX/Pittsburgh, WKLS/Atlanta, KISW/Seattle and now my closet studio in SoCal.
1) What do you do to maintain a positive mental attitude and stay motivated?
Connect with as many friends I've crossed paths with as possible.
2) How are you occupying your time, besides looking for a job?
Trying to trap the gopher who is digging up my yard.
3) Some people get discouraged or enlightened with the business when they actually step out of it for a while. Tell us your observations from the outside.
I realize now how important it is to do what you feel works. If you don't buy what they're selling, you can't fake it for long -- and it's okay if they don't like what you're doing, because when you find a company that does, it's fun again.
4) Do you plan on sticking with the music/radio industry?
Yes, I love doing great radio.
5) What's the longest stretch you've had on the beach?
Four months.
6) What's the best way to get your foot in the door?
Network from the inside out.
7) What has been your best resource for finding out about job openings?
All Access/networking/my website.
8) What's the craziest thing you've ever done to get a job?
Quit college oo oh wait, it was craziest, not dumbest.
9) What is the next job you'd like to obtain?
PM or AM drive in Rock/Country/Classic Rock.
10) How are you finding the "courtesy level" at places you've applied? (Callbacks, e-mails, rejection letters, etc.)
I don't worry about that, because worrying about callbacks, e-mails and such can magnify the peaks and valleys of the job search. If I don't hear from you, our worlds weren't meant to be together.
