BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
BRIEF?? How the Hell do I do that?? Okay, let's just say I've worked with some of the best programmers-talent-promotions people and sales geeks on the West Coast in the last 23 years. I have worked at Z100/Portland, Q106/San Diego, KSFM/Sacramento, Hot 97.7/San Jose, Wild 94.9/SF for 10 years and for CBS in NYC. The last 15 years or so, I was part of the highest rated morning show in Bay Area history, The Dog House.
1) What do you do to maintain a positive mental attitude and stay motivated?
Who said I have a positive mental attitude? I'm motivated by one day having to actually use coupons at the grocery store.
2) How are you occupying your time, besides looking for a job?
I have been raising guinea pigs for competitive racing ... okay, maybe not. Playing golf, but not well.
3) Do you plan on sticking with the music/radio industry?
That or I am thinking about becoming a sherpa in the Himalayas. Yes, it's in my blood.
4) What has been your best resource for finding out about job openings?
Allaccess.com, of course! Do I get a job now?
5) How are you finding the "courtesy level" at places you've applied? (Callbacks, e-mails, rejection letters, etc.)
A real tough time for radio and there is a lot of GREAT talent out of work. I go with bribery or blackmail.
6) What's the most unbelievable question you've ever been asked in an interview?
If I would actually show up to work five minutes early. Okay, once again ... kidding.
7) With consolidation there are definitely fewer jobs. How do you separate yourself from the pack?
Bribes of hooker midgets and free fries at Long John Silvers.
8) What has been your biggest career accomplishment?
Being #1 in San Francisco for almost a decade.
9) What do you miss most about music/radio? The least?
The most: The good coffee in the break rooms. The least: The interns who said they would keep their mouth shut.
10) If you were offered a similar position to what you were doing for considerably less money, would you seriously consider taking the job just to stay in the biz?
YES ... call me!
