SoundCloud Taps Programmatic Ads

This week SoundCloud announced that they plan to amp up their advertising efforts with programmatic buying in the US. This will make it possible for the music streaming platform to allow "marketers to target users on the platform based on parameters like location, music listening habitsand other demographics like age." No doubt that this is a move by the struggling SoundCloud, who justposted a loss of $52 million on revenues of just $22 millionin 2015, to make themselves a more appealing acquisition target or standalone entity. According to TechCrunch, SoundCloud is working with Triton Digital (an audio advertising platform that works with Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio and others) to launch the new programmatic adds.
