Facebook Now #1 in the US

Facebook passed a milestone in mid-March, becoming the #1 most-visited website in the US, according to Hitwise. Facebook had previously hit #1 on a number of individual days (especially holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day), but is had never done so for a full week until the 2nd week of March. Facebook ranked #1 with 7.07% of all US web traffic (up 185% from the same week in 2009), while Google took 2nd with 7.03% (up 9% from the previous year).

Mobile users now make up 25% of all Facebook users and these users are even more active than the ones that use their PCs. This is why Facebook is looking to expand its capabilities with location-based tools. Location-based mobile advertising is the next big frontier and Facebook intends to be there...wherever you are.
