Sony's Latest Moves

Sony made the curious choice of announcing some new initiatives <http://www.dmwmedia.com/news/2010/09/01/sony-launch-new-itunes-store-challenger> on the exact same day as Apple made their music announcements (new social version of iTunes, new iPod Touch, new iPod Shuffle and Nano, etc.). The big announcement was the expansion of its Qriocity service, a cloud-based service to distribute movies, music, e-books and games to computers, Sony's PSP console and other devices.

The Qriocity service was given a soft launch in the US in April, but will now be made available in Europe by the end of the year. Also expected at that time is their "Music Unlimited," cloud-based music service.
