US to Get Online Privacy Czar

The Wall Street Journal reports that President Obama is planning on naming an Online Privacy Czar.  An upcoming Commerce Department report will make this recommendation, based on its finding that privacy concerns are increasing amidst the lack of regulations and standards.   High profile controversies, such as those surrounding Facebook's evolving privacy settings have increased the calls for regulation and federal standards.  Other governments, including the European Union, are grappling with the same issues.
