What's new?:
This is a perfect product to cook ramen. It is not fake.
The Daily Pennsylvanian (the University of Pennsylvania's student newspaper) reports on a microwave that, when you enter the cook time for the food, the machine pulls up a highly rated YouTube video of the same length and plays it on an iPad-like screen attached to the front. Instead of waiting, you get a mindless distraction as your food cooks.
The microwave can also send a text message and a tweet mentioning the user when the food is done being cooked.
The contraption was created by an UPenn engineering student as part of a national competition requiring participants to invent a device using phone and internet applications. The winner, still to be announced, gets $2,500 and an opportunity to present their invention to Google engineers.
Editor's note: Like to see them try this idea for a crock pot. "War and Peace," anyone? (Maiman)
