Follow-up:
That anti-gay group One Million Moms has abandoned its boycott of J-C Penney and ELLEN DeGENERES after the boycott fizzled.
The group is now moving on to other issues they say requires its attention. Such as? An effort against the ABC drama "GCB," which opponents say insults Christians. (Others say the show, already panned by critics as just bad TV, say the show goes after the people who call themselves Christians.)
So far, these protests haven't had much luck. The group's boycott of Toys 'R' Us also failed miserably. The Archie Comics issue they objected to because of its same-sex wedding sold out.
FYI: The one million in one million moms may be a bit of a misnomer. The group's Facebook page has only 45-thousand likes. (Maiman)Guilty Pleasures:
No winner in Friday night's drawing for the Mega Millions Lottery. That means Tuesday night's drawing is valued at $171 million ($124 million cash value). Mega Millions is played in 42 states and Washington DC. Chances of winning the big prize are 1 in 175.7 million.
Idle gossip &; unconfirmed rumors:
It looks like KATY PERRY’s rebound guy is the highest paid male model in the world. NY Magazine’s The Cut says Katy met BAPTISTE GIABICONI at a Chanel show. They’ve been spotted holding hands, and he reportedly gave her flowers. (Bartha)
BOBBI KRISTINA HOUSTON wants to turn over a new leaf in the wake of her mother, WHITNEY HOUSTON's, untimely death. TMZ.com reports the 19-year-old has been telling buddies she's planning to change her name to "Kristina Houston," which isn't a new idea. Rumor has it the grieving daughter originally wanted to drop her father's name six-years-ago, but mom refused to allow it. Her father, BOBBY BROWN, made headlines when he left Whitney's funeral after a disagreement over seating arrangements. (Lee)
Chic Sh*t:
Making ladies look slim can really pay off --just ask SARAH BLAKELY. Yahoo.com reports the 41-year-old creator of Spanx undergarments made history as the youngest self-made woman to ever land on Forbes list of billionaires. Ms. Blakely came up with the idea because she couldn't stand the way her hind quarters looked in white pants, so she cut off some pantyhose, invested five-grand in her invention and the rest is history. The line now boasts over 200 items, a bargain line at Target and body shapers for men called Manx. (Lee)
Broadcast, cable and video news:
The Pacific Princess, the cruise ship that was used as "The Love Boat" on TV from 1977-86, is headed to the scrapyard to be demolished and sold for scrap. According to Italy's La Repubblica newspaper, after floating at a dock in Genoa, Italy, for more than a year, the 600-passenger ship was sold to a Turkish demolition company for around $3.3 million.
"The Love Boat" starred GAVIN MacLEOD as Captain Stubing with LAUREN TEWES as cruise director Julie McCoy, FRED GRANDY as purser "Gopher" Smith and TED LANGE as bartender Isaac Washington.
After the series was over, the ship continued with Princess Cruises until 2003 and then was sold several times, finally winding up with Quail Cruises in Spain, which took it on its last cruise. -
