Election Day:
Marie Claire magazine asks: Would you vote for a celebrity?
--I'd be more likely to vote for a celebrity, 11 percent
--It wouldn't make a difference, 42 percent
--I'd be less likely to vote for a celebrity, 47 percent (Kaye)What's the Buzz:
High-speed police chases may become a thing of the past thanks to a new technology being deployed across the nation.
It's a GPS Cannon that simply tags a fleeing car with a tracker so that pursuing officers can hang back and wait for the criminal to stop, then make the arrest.
High-speed pursuits have their detractors as they often put innocent lives in danger and cause property damage, no ramming of bystander vehicles.
The cannons, already used in Georgia, Texas, Iowa and Arizona, fire a sticky GPS device from the front grill that lands on a fleeing car, then track that car remotely.
Each air-powered cannon costs about $5,000 to install. Each GPS round costs about $500.
Editor's note: Why not just a regular cannon. Blast that bad guy to kingdom come. (Maiman)Sucking the life out of the wire services:

Grace notes:
MADONNA's little girl is ready to hit the stage. The "Confidential" gossip column in the NY Daily Newssays LOURDES LEON will play Rizzo in her high school's production of the musical "Grease." That's the same part STOCKARD CHANNING played in the movie, the tough leader of the Pink Ladies. Lourdes is a student at the prestigious, but still public, LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts in New York City. (Marino)
Lowering expectations:
Warning: note sexual content!
You won't catch this fireworks display at Disneyland.
Spectators at a recent fireworks show in Glasgow, Scotland, were surprised when a giant phallus lit up the sky. Pyrotechnics organizers reportedly created the image in realtime using multiple rockets. The result was definitely x-rated. A video of the naughty fireworks has been uploaded to YouTube. Some commenters on the video site are suggesting the footage may have been faked. (Still) -
