Posturing, Posing and Press Releases:
The Tampa Bay Times reports that FL GOP Sen. MARCO RUBIO will likely kick-off a run for the White House on April 13th in Miami. Rubio has reserved the Freedom Tower in downtown Miami for an undisclosed event.
That setting will have a definite message behind it. The 1926 Mediterranean-style building was used to process and help refugees fleeing communist Cuba after FIDEL CASTRO seized power there in 1959. (Pacelli)Former Hewlett-Packard CEO CARLY FIORINA says the chance is "higher than 90 percent" that she'll run for president. Alluding to a possible late April or early May announcement, she said, "We need to make sure we have the right time in place, that we have the right support, that we have the right financial resources lined up, just as all the other candidates have done."
Attacking HILLARY CLINTON over her recent e-mail flap, she said, "There's a competence issue now. Anyone in 2015 who says you can't have two email accounts on a single device obviously doesn't understand technology." (Pacelli)Watercooler:
Another ban for those "selfie-sticks," as both the Coachella and Lollapalooza music festivals have banned them this year.
In fact, the Lollapalooza festival lumps them in with GoPro attachments and monopods in the "prohibited items" section. The Coachella website also calls them "Narcisstics." Get it? Narciss-stick? Taking a picture of yourself, you narcissist?Chic Sh*t:
If you're a fan of ROBIN WRIGHT as Claire Underwood on "House of Cards," you know she had a dramatic hair transformation in the Netflix series' newest season. No spoilers on what happens and why --but if you love Robin's makeup look, you can buy it-- at Target! The "House of Cards" make-up artist told New York magazine's The Cut that Robin's make-up does include some expensive stuff, like Armani foundation and a Dior eyebrow pencil But her lip color is Sonia Kashuk Number 21. The shade is Sheer Pink Lust. And you can buy it at Target for just $10.99. (Bartha)
School daze:
Warning! graphic content and video:
Spring break brings out the worst in people. A guy enjoying his college break was filmed biting the head off of a live hamster, and now PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) is looking for him. They think he's a fraternity member at Florida State University and plan on pressing charges against him. (Myers)The Reel Deal:
The 1980s JOHN HUGHES movie classic, "The Breakfast Club," has been restored and is returning to theaters to honor the film's 30th anniversary. It was in theatres last Thursday night and will be shown in 430 theaters across the US again tomorrow night --Tue, Mar 31-- at 7:30 pm (local time).
PS: "Don't You Forget About Me" was first offered to BILLY IDOL. He said no. Then, BRYAN FERRY was asked to record it. He said no too. That's how SIMPLE MINDS got the song, by default.
It was co-written by KEITH FORSEY. He was the live drummer on just about every early disco tune, especially DONNA SUMMER's hits. Keith was the maestro of the "four on the floor" beat, which he would do live on all of those extended remixes. No looping back then. (Marino) -
