Sick bay:
TOMMY CHONG is fighting for his life once again and battling rectal cancer. The comic broke the news to Us Weekly that he's "in treatment," is still using (ahem) Mary Jane "like crazy" and finding peace by reading the book "Spiritual Power of Truth" by JOEL S. GOLDSMITH.
Tommy was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in 2012 and is a big advocate for medical marijuana after treating the disease with hemp oil and cannabis. (Lee)Splitsville:
SEAN PENN and CHARLIZE THERON have called off their engagement. Sources tell Us Weekly the South African stunner broke up with the "Milk" star after a trip to the Cannes Film Festival and a year-and-a-half of togetherness. The actress just called Sean the "love of my life" during an interview with the British version of Elle, while he gushed to Esquire UK last March that he was "surprised to be in love" at the age of 53. (Lee)
Engaged:
DALE EARNHARDT, Jr. is finally making an honest woman of AMY REIMANN. The speed demon Tweeted a photo with his bride-to-be yesterday saying he was "looking forward to the rest of my life with this amazing girl," while she felt "completely overwhelmed with love and joy." The twosome have been dating since 2009 and people have been putting the pressure on to propose since he turned the big 4-0! (Lee)
Quotable: "He wanted to propose somewhere they never spend any time, so he did it in the winner's circle." (A-List Comedy)Top talkables of the day:
The U.S. Treasury yesterday announced plans to add a "notable woman" to the $10 bill's design in the year 2020.
Treasury says that the $10 bill was chosen to "address current and potential" counterfeit threats. That apparently means ALEXANDER HAMILTON is o-u-t. "I'm proud that the new 10 will be the first bill in more than a century to feature the portrait of a woman," Treasury Secretary JACOB LEW said
The new bill's release will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.
As for who will be on the new $10 bill --the government hasn't decided yet, and they're asking for you to give your opinion by going to the website thenew10.treasury.gov and on Twitter using the hashtag #TheNew10.Techno-geek-a-zoid crap:
A "smart bikini" exists and it will tell you when it's time to put on more sunscreen. A French company invented the wearable tech. The $167-dollar bikini is a two-piece swimsuit with a small detachable ultraviolet sensor that will alert your smartphone or tablet when it's time to re-slather on the sun protection. The New York Daily News says the detector can be calibrated to your skin type and how much of a tan you want. There's even a "Valentine" function that will send a message to your significant other that it's time to --wink, wink-- help you put the sunscreen on. (Bartha)
Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
Please don't call him Blanket anymore. RadarOnline.com says MICHAEL JACKSON's youngest son, who was born Michael Jackson Jr., is now 13 years old and just finished the 7th grade at The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, California. He was getting bullied for the name "Blanket," which was his dad's nickname for him, so before he started classes at Buckley, he asked to be called BIGI from now on. It's German and means idealistic, sensitive and inspirational. Bigi reportefly hated the name Blanket and was angry at his father for giving him that name. (Marino)
