What's the Buzz:
The BILL COSBY controversy continues.
NBC News reports that Bill gave a deposition for a 2005 lawsuit that he got Quaaludes because he intended to give them to young women he wanted to have sex with, and later did just that to at least one woman.
The lawsuit was later settled out of court. More than 20 women have accused Cosby of drugging them so he could have sex with them. What's Poppin':
DONALD TRUMP continues to defend --and revise-- his statements about immigrants.
Yesterday, he issued another statement, this time citing the weekend slaying of a woman in San Francisco as evidence of the truth of his position.
KATE STEINLE was killed Saturday in what was apparently a random killing by an undocumented immigrant and repeat felon who has been deported five times to Mexico.
Trump said "This is merely one of thousands of similar incidents throughout the United States. In other words, the worst elements in Mexico are being pushed into the United States by the Mexican government."
And, taking some spin off the original statement, he also said "many fabulous people come in from Mexico" legally, "and our country is better for it. I am proud to say that I know many hard working Mexicans—many of them are working for and with me... and, just like our country, my organization is better for it."
As for the people who've dumped Trump because of his original statement, Trump said "Macy's, NBC, Serta and NASCAR have all taken the weak and very sad position of being politically correct even though they are wrong in terms of what is good for our country.... Remember, Univision is the one who began this charade in the first place, and they are owned by one of HILLARY CLINTON's biggest backers."More of the same:
See ya: Panama dropped out of DONALD TRUMP's Miss Universe Pageant yesterday, joining Costa Rica and Mexico, which quickly punted out after Trump's remarks about Mexican immigrants, which he described as rapists who bring drugs into the United States.
Meanwhile, the current Miss Universe, Colombia's PAULINA VEGA, slammed Trump over the weekend, saying she found Trump's comments "unjust and hurtful" and that the Miss Universe Organization "works independently from its owners."
But Trump slammed right back, tweeting "Miss Universe, Paulina Vega, criticized me for telling the truth about illegal immigration, but then said she would keep the crown --Hypocrite."Meanwhile, ESPN pulled the plug on its ESPY Celebrity Golf Classic which was set to begin a week from today (on Jul 14) at the Trump National Golf Club.
ESPN says they'll be moving the tournament to Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Beach.Running with the Bulls:
The annual Running of the Bulls is underway in Pamplona, Spain, with all the excitement it causes each year. Yesterday there was the big ceremonial party (beginning the Festival of San Fermin) and today, the first bull-run, in which (if you haven't seen the BILLY CRYSTAL movie) people race six huge bulls through the city to the bull ring --a route of more than a half-mile-- each morning at 8 am, and taking around four minutes. The first bull run, which traditionally draws the largest number of participants, was this morning.
FYI: Last year 35 people were taken to hospital from the festival's eight runs, including eight people who were gored by a bull. Fifteen people have been killed in the bull runs since they began to keep records back in 1911.This morning's run:
The Bulls from Jandilla in Llerena, Spain, have traditionally averaged a bit less than two gorings per run in the 15 times they've been at the Festival. However, early reports have just one person gored and six injured in the very fast run --2 min 23 sec.
Here's today's Running of the Bulls "GoreBoard":
Tue, Jul 07: 6 people injured, 1 gored; total time: 2 min, 23 sec.
"GoreBoard" Total: 6 injured, 1 gored.
FYI and disclaimer: For today's final results, check HERE. Thanks to WOGL-FM News Director BILL ZIMPFER for the use of the term, "Goreboard" (trademark pending). -
