Culture Shock:
Legislators in New York State have signed off on a bill which would let people be buried with their pets.
NY Gov. ANDREW CUOMO signed the bill, which would let people have the option, provided their pets were cremated before the burial. However, it would be an option for local cemeteries, which would not have to do it and religious cemeteries would be specifically forbidden from doing it.
Phoner: Would you want your pet to be buried with you?Fashion Emergency:
Did anybody notice that DONALD TRUMP and HILLARY CLINTON were wearing the opposing team's colors? Red is the traditional Republican color while blue is the traditional color for Democrats, but last night the candidates flipped it. Philly.com described Clinton as appearing "ready to rumble in a smart red pantsuit... The look said power." Meanwhile, Trump went with a deep navy blue suit and a cobalt-colored tie. "At first glance, he appeared cool, calm and collected. Agreeable, even."
And then, they opened their mouths. The end. (Bartha)On, off and way-off-Broadway:
The cast of "Hamilton" will be setting up voter registration tables tomorrow and Saturday between 5pm and 7pm outside the Richard Rodgers Theater. The New York Daily News says they'll be joined by volunteers trained by the Hispanic Federation. And, since Broadway brings in folks from all over the country, the staff will have voter registration forms on hand from all 50 states. (Marino)
"Stranger Things" a top Halloween costume:
There's a full 34 days until Halloween, but Lyst already knows what you and your crew are wearing for your festivities. According to the e-commerce site, you're most likely to go as a character from "Stranger Things," be it Eleven, Dustin or even Barb --but probably Eleven. To make this prediction, Fashionista says Lyst crunched the numbers using global search statistics from Google, as well as its own page views and sales data. Eleven (played by MILLIE BOBBY BROWN) is set to be most popular. An Eleven-style pink Peter Pan collar dress was viewed once every three minutes on Lyst last week, while 80 percent of the users who searched "pink collar dress" also searched for "tube socks." Blue jackets have also grown in popularity, with a jersey bomber receiving 89 percent more views in the past four weeks than the preceding month. Page views on Barb-inspired pussy-bow blouses are up 42 percent compared to this time last month. Mesh trucker caps a la Dustin (played by GATEN MATARAZZO) have seen a 116-percent increase in the last two weeks. (Bartha)
