Equal time:
Former House Speaker NEWT GINGRICH told's Fox's SEAN HANNITY that all the ongoing investigations in D.C. will likely yield at least one conviction. He said, "They're going to get somebody. I don't think they're going to get the president, but they're going to get somebody, and they're going to get him for something. And they're probably going to go to jail."
The Newtster added, "This is like watching an old-fashioned Western movie. This is an Indian hunting party... They're out looking for a couple scalps, and they're not going to go home until they get some." (Pacelli)School daze:
Kids who attend the suburban Buffalo school district in Orchard Park will get an extra day of summer. Since U2 is playing a concert there Sep 05... school officials say schools will open a day later because of the expected traffic increase and because travel times are worse on the first day because the bus drivers are learning their routes.
Health and Medical Briefs:
A new study suggests that music therapy and horseback riding therapy may help stroke survivors regain lost mobility and balance years after their brain attack. CBS News says patients shouldn't plan on trying alternative therapies until they have reached the final stages of their stroke recovery. But among those who do, the American Stroke Association says many saw improvements with therapies "outside of what's available in traditional stroke rehabilitation." None of the stroke survivors in the study had severe disabilities, but they did have lingering problems with essential functions like balance, walking and memory.
The idea behind horseback riding is, partly, that the movement of the horse gives a "sensorimotor experience" that is similar to normal human walking. On top of that, it engages people mentally and socially. Music therapy is more feasible because it can be done in rehab clinics, group settings or in patients' homes. JAY-Z became the first rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The ceremony happened Friday in New York City, and former President BARACK OBAMA sent along a video messagecongratulating the hip-hop mogul. He said (quote), "Like all of you, I am a fan: I've been listening to Jay since I was a young and hungry state senator. I sampled his lyrics to close his speech at Selma, and tweeted a reference to 'My First Song' when I was putting the finishing touches on my final State of the Union address. I had to 'brush some dirt off my shoulders' during a campaign. So I'm pretty sure I'm still the only president to listen to Jay Z's music in the Oval Office." Jay-Z was not there to accept the honor, but he did put in a rare appearance on Twitter to thank a lot of people. He closed with (quote), "And the greatest rapper of all time OBAMA. Thank you 44."
Other inductees included KENNETH "Babyface" EDMONDS, JIMMY JAM & TERRY LEWIS, ROBERT LAMM & JAMES PANKOW of CHICAGO and MAX MARTIN. Ex-Chicago bass player and singer PETER CETERA was supposed to be inducted with Robert and James, but he declined to do anything with them. So, Peter will get his own induction next year.Motown founder BERRY GORDY was also honored.
FYI: There are rumors that Jay-Z will release a new album on June 30th. Naturally, it will premier on his Tidal music streaming service. (Marino)
