New research suggests that the average teen is no more active than the average 60-year-old. CBS says a new study analyzed data from more than 12,500 people of various ages who wore activity tracking devices for seven straight days as part of national health surveys conducted between 2003 and 2006. They found that physical activity levels among children and teens were much lower than previously thought --kids age 6 to 11 moved less were active than one hour per day on average. And among teens (ages 12 to 17) more than 50 percent of males and 75 percent of females failed to average one-hour per day of activity. The World Health Organization recommends at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity per day for children ages 5 to 17. (Bartha)
Animal Stories:
A crime fighting pet squirrel has gone back to his natural habitat.
JOEY the squirrel was raised for 10-months by ADAM PEARL of Meridian, Idaho. Pearl took the rodent in when the animal was abandoned by its mother. Joey returned the favor --and made headlines-- when he scared off a burglar that broke into Pearl's house back in February.
But, Pearl says his pet squirrel took off without warning the other day, scampering back into the wilderness. The reason? Pearl thinks Joey found himself a girlfriend.
JANET RACHLOW of the University of Idaho's Department of Fish and Wildlife Sciences says, "For a lot of mammals, behavior changes once spring comes." (Still)TV Briefs:

The Hollywood Reporter says the cable network was in negotiations to pick up the series' seventh season, but have decided not to move forward with the series, which was cancelled by ABC last month, despite fairly good ratings and an avid fan base. -
